Do I need financial advice?

Many people benefit from professional financial advice, particularly when facing important decisions or life changes. Here are some scenarios where advice typically adds significant value:

  • Approaching retirement and unsure how to take your pension
  • Received an inheritance or a large lump sum
  • Starting a business or becoming self-employed
  • Going through a divorce or major life change
  • Wanting to ensure your estate is efficiently structured
  • Concerned about Inheritance Tax or tax efficiency
  • Looking to consolidate multiple old pensions
  • Wanting professional management of your investments

You're not alone

Research shows that people who take financial advice are, on average, significantly better off than those who don't — not just financially, but in terms of confidence and peace of mind around money.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between financial advice and guidance?

Financial guidance gives you general information to help you make your own decisions — it doesn't take your personal circumstances into account. Financial advice is a regulated service where an adviser makes specific personal recommendations based on a detailed understanding of your situation, and they are accountable for those recommendations.

Are MG Capital advisers independent?

Our advisers are restricted financial advisers who can recommend products from a carefully selected panel of providers, including the full MG Capital product range. We always act in your best interest and will recommend products outside our range if they better suit your needs.

How do I know if an adviser is qualified?

All MG Capital advisers hold at minimum the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (QCF Level 4) and are authorised by the FCA. Many hold Chartered Financial Planner status — the highest professional qualification in financial planning. You can verify any adviser's status on the FCA Register.

Can I get advice remotely or must I visit a branch?

We offer advice via phone, video call, or in person at our regional offices. Many clients find remote advice just as effective and more convenient. Your choice — whatever works best for you.

What if I'm unhappy with the advice I receive?

If you have a complaint about the advice you've received, you can contact our dedicated complaints team. If we're unable to resolve the issue to your satisfaction, you can escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service free of charge. You may also be entitled to compensation through the FSCS.
